On June 5, JD Logistics launched Asia’s largest smart e-commerce logistics centers in 23 core cities across China including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, and Wuhan, showcasing its cutting-edge technology and advanced software and hardware facilities.
Launched by JD.com, Asia No. 1 Smart Logistics Center (Asia No.1) is the largest cluster of the smart logistics center, and 23 similar centers have opened to facilitate e-commerce shopping in China. Reportedly, robots, intelligent sorting machines, and technological products with various functions work on assembly lines in those smart logistics centers. Their order processing speed and operation efficiency is five to ten times higher than that of traditional warehouses. The application of these technological facilities, however, is coordinated by system instructions, which are issued by the smart brain of Asia No.1.
To better deal with orders during the peak periods, the smart brain has made innovations in areas such as intelligent production scheduling, intelligent recommendations on packaging consumables, order picking route optimization and improvement of labor efficiency. In the Asia No.1 logistics centers, the smart brain eliminates the need for many human workers. It can calculate the production and delivery time of each order based on the overall situation, optimize order processing, use AI to calculate capacity based on all the production links of e-commerce logistics supply chain, control the orderly production of orders and provide users with more accurate logistics services. With advanced AI technology, Asia No.1 has achieved automatic order processing optimization within the center, the proportion of which has been increased to 73%, considerably improving the accuracy of order processing optimization and efficiency of delivery.
Surrounded by rugged mountains and winding rivers and located at the Logistics Park in Ba’nan District, the Asia No.1 Smart Logistics Center in Chongqing was launched in 2017 with a floor area of nearly 200 thousand square meters. As a modern and comprehensive logistics center integrating commodity storage, order processing, sorting, delivery, operation, and administration, it is one of the largest intelligent logistics centers with the highest level of automation in Southwest China and with one of the most advanced sorting systems in China. The sorting machines are 180 meters long, with a daily processing capacity of over half a million orders. The commodities stored in the center involve small and medium-sized orders such as 3C, daily supplies, and maternal and infant supplies as well as major appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines.
