Chongqing - This year's Chongqing Yuelai International Design Forum (YDIF 2020) climaxed with last Tuesday's parallel forum of Design Reshapes Industrial Value, which invited international designers, professors, and Key Opinion Leaders to have in-depth discussions and exchanges.
Paolo Bazzoni, chairman of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and executive board member of Bonfiglioli Group, gives a keynote speech at the YDIF subforum.
"As a well-established industrial city with a long history, Chongqing is aiming its design to international standards, while Italy also has a profound history and unique esthetic philosophies in artistic cultures and fashion designs," said Helen Tu, board member of Fondazione Italia Cina and board director of Chic Group, who gave an extremely motivating opening speech by revisiting her 20 years of experience and expertise in global communication.
Experts and industry participants were invited to attend the international forum.
Paolo Bazzoni, chairman of China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and executive board member of Bonfiglioli Group, followed Tu and gave another energizing and optimistic keynote speech. "Quality and innovation are the two key engines for sustainable development. We're very looking forward to collaborating with more Chinese companies and exploring more business opportunities in Chongqing," said Bazzoni.
Italian architect and designer Michele De Lucchi, who's also the founder of aMDL, delivers a speech in the form of a pre-recorded video message due to travel inconveniences.
Italian architect and designer Michele De Lucchi, who couldn't make it in person to the event, also sent a pre-recorded video message to the organizing committee. His speech was about the evolution of the mission of design, which, according to him, includes the three indispensable elements of aesthetics, industrial thinking, and sustainability.
While sharing most of the views held by Lucchi, Stephano Piontini, general manager and chief creative director of VSP Design Asia Pacific, expressed his own artistic pursuits in his keynote speech, Design and Art: Influences and Inspirations. "Architect and art designer is basically one role with two different orientations. They should be combined together to create more values for spaces."
What's more, Randall Foster Ewing, senior vice president of THINKWELL Asia, Luca Fois, professor of Politecnico Milano, Yang Mingjie, founder and design director of YANG DESIGN and Yangshe, and Nikola Sretovic, senior industrial designer at Harman International/JBL, also rendered their unique visions for designing. Ewing talked about the impact of location-based entertainment (LBE) design on the industry, Fois focused on shaping design as a bridge for the future, Yang cut into the angle of design in the digital age, while Sretovic shared profusely about his own growing up stories as a designer.
A roundtable on how to realize the product transformation and enhance economic and social value through design was held near the end of the subforum.
As with the other parallel forum, which focused on Design and Life Science, this subforum also ended with an inclusive roundtable. Guest speakers and the audience were encouraged to share and discuss various issues and topics around design and industrial value.
