Chongqing- The 2022 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival branch venue will be held in Qianjiang District on September 22, serving as the only national branch venue in Chongqing, according to the Chongqing Municipal People's Government press conference on September 16.
On the day of the event, Qianjiang District will hold a symposium on East-West Coordination (referring to the coordination between China's eastern and western regions). More than 50 cooperation projects will be signed on-site.
Meanwhile, Zhuoshui Ancient Town, one of China's most well-known ancient towns in Qianjiang District, will display agricultural and unique products from participating provinces and cities.
East-West Coordination is a significant decision made by the central government to balance regional development and bolster mutual prosperity. In this collaboration, Shandong Province, the northernmost province in eastern China on the lower reaches of the Yellow River, and Chongqing develop agriculture in mountainous areas and an exceptional regional economy, including agricultural product processing.
By August, Chongqing obtained 728 million yuan (about 104 million U.S. dollars) in financial assistance from Shandong Province in poverty alleviation cooperation. Thirty-eight new Shandong enterprises have landed in Chongqing.
Qianjiang is located at 30° north latitude, with an average altitude of 400-1900 meters and an average annual temperature of 15.7°C. And the days with good air quality surpass 350 days a year.
It used to be a contiguous poverty area in the Wuling Mountains. With the support of various groups, it has become the first batch of poverty alleviation in China, laying the foundation for the comprehensive revitalization of the countryside.
Qianjiang, based on its unique ecological advantages, continuously increases agricultural technology innovation and creates a modern high-efficiency agricultural demonstration zone with mountain characteristics.
The exceptional Qianjiang black pork, known as the "Maotai" (the most revered of Chinese liquors) of meat, is sold at 200 yuan per kilogram in Shanghai and other coastal cities and five times the price of regular pork.
Also, Qianjiang has the most abundant wild kiwifruit resources in Southwest China and has successfully bred unique red, yellow, and green kiwifruits, which have been selected as national geographical indication agricultural products. Chongqing's largest morels production base also landed here.
Furthermore, Taiji Town, a recently built sericulture town in Qianjiang District, has made a mulberry garden of 8,700 mu (580 hectares), with a complete industrial layout such as fungus of mulberry branches, mulberry leaf noodles, and grain processing plants.
Taiji Town has two sericulture cultural and creative experience centers. The sericulture town has become a new highlight of the integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism in Chongqing.
