Chongqing - On April 6, the main pier foundation of the super-large bridge across the Jialing River of Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway in Southwest China was completely poured, and the main bridge kicked off the construction of the bearing platform, according to Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway Co., Ltd.
The bridge span remains the longest among its type worldwide, holding great significance for the construction of the Sichuan-Chongqing economic circle and the implementation of national strategies such as the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
The Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou high-speed railway is a crucial component of the Yangtze River channel within China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network. The main line stretches 477 kilometers and boasts a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, connecting key regions in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle: Chengdu, Nanchong, Dazhou of Sichuan Province, and the Wanzhou District of Chongqing.
Situated in the Shunqing District of Nanchong, the 6,224.98-meter-long Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou high-speed railway features four cable-stayed bridges with low towers. The Jialing River super-large bridge, with a main span of 328 meters, is a critical and highly challenging project along the entire line.
Cheng Bangxing, executive deputy commander of the project, revealed that the bridge's final design eliminated the "underwater excavation" plan, thereby protecting the Jialing River's second-level water source and rare fish conservation zone.
He Wanfa, director of the Dazhou Headquarters of the Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-speed Railway Co., Ltd., shared that "the people living along the railway are eagerly awaiting the opening of this high-speed railway, and the local government has provided tremendous support since the project commenced." He added, "The company will bolster the construction workforce and expedite the construction, striving to complete the project as soon as possible."
Officially launched on September 30, 2022, the Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou high-speed railway has an estimated construction period of five years.
Originating from Chengdu Tianfu Station, the railway uses the existing Chengdu-Zigong line to reach Ziyang West Station. From there, a new railway is constructed through Ziyang, Suining, Nanchong, and Dazhou to the Kaizhou and Wanzhou Districts of Chongqing, ultimately connecting to Wanzhou North Station. The entire line spans 486.4 kilometers (including 432.4 kilometers of new construction) and includes a total of 13 stations.
