Chongqing-Shou Zi Chew, CEO of short-video app TikTok, recently testified during a hearing in the United States Congress. He was grilled by U.S. lawmakers over data security and harmful content for more than five hours. Throughout the hearing, however, US politicians who claimed that TikTok was a "national security threat" have never provided any evidence that the Chinese government has sought to gain access to or use data provided by Tiktok's parent Chinese company ByteDance.
