Chongqing Urban Arts Festival Opens with 110 Artistic Events

Chongqing - The second edition of the Chongqing Urban Arts Festival kicked off on September 27th at the Chongqing Guotai Arts Center with a stunning array of performances from September 2023 to February 2024.

Under the theme "Celebrating the New Era, Nurturing a New Chongqing," the festival is centered around the concepts of the "new era, new journey, new Chongqing, and new achievements." 

Over the next five months, Chongqing residents and visitors to Chongqing will enjoy an astonishing 110 art-themed activities spanning three main categories: art education exhibitions, literary and art performances, and art-themed markets.

Starting this month and continuing through February next year, the festival will unfold with a weekly exhibition and monthly activities, promising the city's residents a captivating and diverse cultural extravaganza.

During the upcoming October holiday season, visitors can look forward to exhibitions such as "All Things Live - Art Exhibition of Dai Ze's Return to Hometown at 100" and the "National Museum Fine Art Collection Exhibition Season 2023" at the Chongqing Art Museum.

The performing arts will also take center stage, featuring events like the "Dance Unbounded - 2023 Chengdu-Chongqing Dance Competition" and the children's play "Little Red Riding Hood," catering to the diverse tastes of the audience.

In various city districts, cultural activities such as the "Life Like Summer Flowers - 2023 Chengdu-Chongqing Public Art Invitation Exhibition" and the Huangjueping Handicraft Market will bring the magic of art to residents' doorsteps. 

Song Junhong, Director of the Arts Department at the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, said, "We are excited to present a vibrant display of art that will enrich the cultural lives of our citizens. Through a wide range of original artworks, we aim to showcase the unique charm of this city, known for its scenic beauty."

The festival's opening ceremony also saw the Chongqing Guotai Arts Center celebrating its 10th anniversary by launching a special line of digital cultural products. 

Furthermore, the center proudly announced the establishment of the Chongqing International Dance Arts Center, adding to the event's excitement.
