Chongqing - Avatr Technology's challenge team, based in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, has completed a remarkable journey to Mount Everest, solidifying its position as the first automotive brand to conquer the challenging terrain of the Sichuan-Xizang highway and the world's highest peak.
This extraordinary expedition spanned a total distance of 3,376 kilometers, with altitude variations exceeding 5,000 meters. The route posed many challenges, ranging from winding mountain roads and unmarked paths to pitch-black tunnels, long downhill slopes, and unpredictable elements such as animal crossings, mixed pedestrian-vehicle traffic, and falling rocks.
The journey not only tested the Avatr 11 smart driving assist systems but also subjected the vehicle's suspension to extreme curve conditions on the way to Mount Everest, situated in a region known for frigid temperatures and drastic temperature fluctuations.
Li Pengcheng, Avatr Technology's Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, attributed the success of this challenge to the continuous support from industry giants Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL. Avatr 11 has witnessed substantial enhancements in both software and hardware.
In particular, all Avatr 11 HarmonyOS edition models, equipped with the HI Huawei full-stack smart car solutions, displayed robust perception and computing capabilities throughout the 3,072 kilometers of intelligent driving, covering 91% of the total journey.
To navigate the extreme altitude differences along the route, the Avatr 11 HarmonyOS edition witnessed a power consumption rate of only 14.69 kWh per 100 kilometers while maintaining an average intelligent driving speed of 62km/h. The intelligent driving system effectively balances safety and efficiency within the model.
Facing the challenging 72 Curves of Nujiang River, the Avatr 11 HarmonyOS edition showed exceptional road perception accuracy and precise dynamic target tracking. It automatically reduced speed before entering turns and accelerated when exiting, adeptly maneuvering past oncoming traffic, enabling a safe and uninterrupted passage through 16 kilometers of twisting road.
Li emphasized that Mount Everest marks not only the culmination of this remarkable challenge but also a new starting point for Avatr's continued ascent.
In the future, Avatr Technology will persist in pushing the boundaries, delivering advanced smart driving experiences to its users. This historic achievement underscores the company's commitment and determination to overcome the most formidable obstacles.
