Chongqing - On November 3, the "Carbon Finance Empowers Enterprise Development" salon was successfully hosted in Chongqing. This event marks the inaugural session of the joint Entrepreneur Salon Series, a collaborative effort between the British Consulate General Chongqing and the Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology (SEE) Chongqing Project Center.

Participants, from the London Stock Exchange Group's China Carbon Research Team, the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and the Green Finance Project at the British Embassy in Beijing, engaged in a comprehensive dialogue with almost 50 Chongqing entrepreneurs. Their discussion centered on the future of green finance and the opportunities and challenges enterprises face within the carbon market.
Entrepreneurs in attendance emphasized the pivotal role enterprises play in green finance and the broader societal shift towards sustainability. The evolving carbon market presents significant opportunities for Chinese businesses. The consensus was a hope that these salons could serve as a cornerstone for fostering deeper China-UK collaboration in green transformation.
Since 2015, the UK and China have forged a lasting partnership in green finance, bolstered by the robust backing from the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD). Both parties view each other as primary collaborators in green finance and have nurtured strong ties across various sectors, including financing, product innovation, and more.
As Southwest China's financial hub, Chongqing, a pioneering city for carbon trading and climate-centric investment and finance in China, is indispensable in propelling China towards fulfilling its dual carbon goals: to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060.
