Chongqing- Eager globetrotters are in for a treat as Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport announced to open and resume global adventure. Soon, the skies will connect Chongqing to iconic destinations like Sydney, Paris, and Kathmandu, heralding an increase in global flight operations.
Starting November 27, Tianjin Airlines will inaugurate direct flights from Chongqing to Sydney. The route will operate twice weekly, enhancing the travel options for passengers journeying between the cities. The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart at 1:10 AM Beijing time and land in Sydney at 14:50 local time.
Tianjin Airlines has also launched connecting flights from over 40 domestic airports to Sydney via Chongqing to facilitate travel from other cities. Ticket prices for these flights start at 700 yuan (excluding tax) (about 98 U.S. dollars) from Chongqing to Sydney and RMB 2,810 (excluding tax) for the return trip. Moreover, the airline has introduced discounts for groups of 3-9 people, offering 5%-8% off on fares.
Following closely, on November 28, Hainan Airlines will resume its Chongqing to Paris route, offering weekly flights every Tuesday. This route is set to provide convenient travel options between China and France, departing Chongqing at 02:30 Beijing time and arriving in Paris at 07:20 local time. The return flight will follow suit, offering seamless connectivity.
In celebration of the resume route, Hainan Airlines is introducing special introductory fares starting from 1,000 yuan (excluding tax), aiming to attract regular and casual travelers.
Adding to the excitement, Himalayan Airlines recently announced the resumption of its Chongqing to Kathmandu route on December 12. This route, operated by Airbus A320s twice weekly, will strengthen ties between the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and Nepal, particularly in agriculture, trade, and tourism. The flight is approximately 4 hours, and competitive pricing starts from 1,189 yuan (including tax).

Since this year, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has resumed eight international passenger routes, including destinations in London, Moscow, and Osaka. With the latest additions, the airport will operate 20 international routes with over 90 weekly flights by the end of the year, reinforcing its position as a major regional global hub.
