Chongqing - On November 23, as a key part of the Sichuan-Chongqing Region of China and Mekong Countries Sub-National Cooperation Forum 2023, an economic and trade dialogue and exchange event occurred in Bishan District, Chongqing.
Representatives from Cambodia's Siem Reap Province, Laos' Champasak Province, Myanmar, Thailand's Suphanburi Province, and Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City showcased their unique and advantageous industries. Each nation desired to broaden and deepen collaboration with China's Sichuan and Chongqing regions in areas like industrialization, infrastructure, industrial upgrading, agricultural modernization, education, and humanities. They aim to continue enhancing connectivity, facilitating unimpeded trade, and strengthening people-to-people ties.
The inauguration of the "Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Legal Research Center" at Southwest University of Political Science and Law was a highlight of the event. Additionally, key foreign trade enterprises in the Bishan District were awarded signboards, and a series of cooperation agreements were signed, marking significant milestones.
Affiliated with Chongqing Medical University, Bishan Hospital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with North Okkalapa General Hospital in Yangon. The Department of Trade Promotion under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce has finalized an MoU on trade and investment cooperation with Yaxin Yaxi'an (Chongqing) Trading Co., Ltd. Additionally, Chongqing-Myanmar International Trade Co., Ltd. has agreed to a cooperation deal with Myanmar MRC Trading Company. The China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association (CMECD) has partnered strategically with the Myanmar-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Chongqing Business Vocational College has established a cooperation agreement with the LAMG-China Education Training Promotion Alliance (LCETPA). Mengjie Kongjian (Chongqing) Digital Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. and Sunthonsuntree (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Furthermore, the Chongqing Young Entrepreneurs New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Expert Committee has partnered strategically with Chongqing Weinong Technology Co., Ltd.
Concurrently, the exchange event featured an exhibition of the best works from the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Design Competition at Xiuhu Park. This showcase vividly displayed the substantial achievements of the Lancang-Mekong countries in cultural and artistic exchanges.
The forum's economic and trade dialogue and exchange activities foster exchanges and cooperation in economy, culture, tourism, and more between China's Sichuan and Chongqing regions and the five Mekong countries. These efforts aim to significantly increase openness and contribute to developing the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor through collaborative consultation, construction, and sharing. This initiative is crucial for accelerating the establishment of an international exchange center in China's central and western regions.
