Changan's EV Sail to Thailand Introducing Deepal, Avatr, Qiyuan

Chongqing - On November 27 at 6:52 a.m., 80 right-hand drive Changan Deepal vehicles were exported from Guangzhou Xinsha Port to Thailand, following the 2023 Changan Southeast Asia Press Conference recently concluded in Bangkok.

According to Changan Minsheng Logistics, the company that took on this task devised a logistics plan that involved direct road transportation from Guangzhou followed by sea shipment to Thailand in collaboration with Changan Auto's ASEAN project team. The process from vehicle assembly line to customs clearance took just four days, nearly ten days faster than traditional transportation methods.

Changan Minsheng Logistics, a logistics company listed on the stock market with Changan Auto as its largest shareholder, specializes in whole vehicle, parts, and supply chain logistics and has recently expanded into non-automotive businesses.

A representative of Changan Minsheng Logistics reported that to support Changan Auto's expansion in Southeast Asia, Minsheng Logistics is accelerating the establishment of facilities in Thailand. The service network established in Thailand will serve as a logistics hub for Changan Auto in the entire Southeast Asian market. 

The logistics operations will further expand to other regions, such as Mexico, Russia, and Europe, aligning with Changan's global expansion strategy.

At the press conference on November 27, Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Auto, announced the construction of a factory in Thailand with a total investment of 20 billion Thai Baht (USD 576 million). The factory is planned to produce right-hand drive electric vehicles, targeting markets in Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Production is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025.

Zhu stated that Changan plans to gradually introduce three major brands of vehicles to Thailand: Deepal, Avatr, and Qiyuan, all of which are either purely electric or plug-in hybrid models. The initial Deepal models introduced will include both pure electric and range-extended versions.
