Aito M9 SUV, with Huawei's Tuling intelligent chassis, offers smart closed-air springs, CDC variable damping shock absorbers, and five-level body height adjustments. Its adaptive active suspension ensures smooth handling in diverse road conditions.
Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei's smart vehicle business unit, highlighted the Aito M9's advanced autonomous driving capabilities. Regarding self-driving features, the M9 utilizes Huawei's ADS2.0 advanced intelligent driving system, including industry-leading 192-line LiDAR technology, high-definition cameras, and millimeter-wave radar.
This supports navigation on urban roads and highways without relying on high-definition maps, a feature often deemed essential for high-level autonomous driving.
This system requires only one manual intervention per 200 kilometers for long-distance journeys. In urban scenarios, it can maneuver itself into or out of fast traffic scenarios like "seasoned drivers," Yu added.
This capability is partly attributed to the vehicle's 27 sensors, including high-definition cameras and LiDAR, enabling more accurate and rapid object detection.
AI and object detection networks also support a high level of autonomous driving. "Starting from the end of December, users can activate the M9's advanced autonomous driving features on urban roads and highways nationwide," Yu stated.
Aito M9 also introduces innovative owl-enhanced steering technology, enabling a 5.2-meter-long vehicle to have a turning radius smaller than a mid-sized sedan.
Moreover, the model features dual-lamp 2.6 million-pixel precision lighting. When the high beams are on, it automatically creates a dark zone to avoid blinding oncoming vehicles while maintaining high-beam visibility.
Yu also mentioned that the Aito M9 has already received 54,000 pre-orders.
The Aito M9 is expected to begin mass delivery by February 26, 2024. A representative from Seres stated that the company has built a world-leading super smart factory in Chongqing.
This factory integrates advanced technologies like AR vision and big data into its intelligent manufacturing equipment. Key processes are fully automated, enabling a new vehicle to roll off the production line every 30 seconds, making it the most efficient globally.
Zhang Xinghai, Chairman (Founder) of Seres Group, remarked that Chongqing is currently in an excellent position to develop intelligent connected NEVs.
"A strong supply chain supports a strong vehicle enterprise," Zhang stated, emphasizing the need for further industry openness and collaboration. "Letting professionals handle their expertise is key to creating quality products that meet user demands."
Chongqing aims to form a new ecosystem for intelligent connected new energy vehicles by 2025 and to build a world-class intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry cluster by 2030, reaching a globally leading industry scale.
The National Bureau of Statistics of China released the latest data showing that Chongqing's automobile production reached 2.0742 million units from January to November this year, a 10% increase year-on-year, ranking second nationwide.
