Chongqing - Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality will open its second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress on January 21, followed by the second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on January 20, as announced during Wednesday's press conferences.
The second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress will span four days and witness the participation of 862 deputies representing 39 delegations.
The second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress will also host 177 attendees, comprising heads of municipal government departments, representatives from the Chengdu-Chongqing Financial Court, and overseas Chinese representatives in Chongqing. Selected enterprises, communities, non-public economic and social organizations, provincial office leaders in Chongqing, and foreign consular officials will also be invited to attend relevant meetings.
The agenda for this political event encompasses nine main tasks, including reviewing and approving the government work report, evaluating the Chongqing Municipal National Economic and Social Development Plan's implementation for 2023, and considering the draft plan for Chongqing Municipal National Economic and Social Development in 2024. Additionally, reports on the 2023 budget performance and the draft budget for 2024, along with updates to the 2024 budget plan, will be discussed.
Notably, the opening ceremony and the first plenary meeting will be broadcast live in sign language for the first time. Prior to the second plenary meeting on January 23, a passage for deputies will be opened for the first time.
The second session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will convene, with a total of 1160 participants in attendance.
Two joint discussions will occur during the session, focusing on the city's urban-rural integration development and the high-quality advancements in the food and agricultural product processing industry. Additionally, there will be a forum centered around suggestions for enhancing the high-quality development of the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor.
The optimization and adjustment of the Chongqing digital CPPCC proposal management system are almost completed and now available online. This system facilitates the convenient online submission of proposals by members.
