Editor's Note: Bridging News launched a social media campaign to promote collaboration among Chongqing Municipality, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Guizhou, and Hubei provinces during this year’s Two Sessions. The campaign showcases each region’s achievements and measures in enhancing the shipping infrastructure of the Yangtze Upper Reaches, using the hashtag #YangtzeUpperReachesPower.
Guoyuan Port, the largest port on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and located in Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area, has developed into an important multi-mode transport hub in China.
From a small bulk cargo terminal to the largest water-rail-road multimodal transport hub port on China’s inland rivers, Guoyuan Port has actively promoted the construction of water transportation port functions and international logistics channels over the past ten years.
It has gradually become the gateway of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the transfer station connecting the upper reaches of the Yangtze River to the world.
Through cooperating with China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd., Guoyuan Port establishes a water-rail multimodal transport interconnection platform, having realized the sharing of train information and goods in transit and port information.
Guoyuan Port also connects with ports such as Qinzhou Port in Guangxi. It establishes a cross-regional customs clearance and inspection mechanism and opens the Shanghai-Chongqing direct express line, reducing the transportation time from Chongqing to Shanghai by nearly one-third.
Relying on Guoyuan Port, Chongqing is becoming Southwest China’s largest automobile multimodal distribution center.
