Chongqing - "Intelligent connected NEVs and core components, software and information services, and new intelligent terminals are our three most distinctive 'billion-dollar' industries," said Sun Lidong, member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of the Chongqing High-Tech Zone in the Western (Chongqing) Science City, at a press conference on June 25.
These will form the core of a modern manufacturing cluster system with unique characteristics of the High-Tech Zone in Western (Chongqing) Science City, Sun added, emphasizing that this vision is being achieved through continuous iteration.

Sun cited the Xiyong Micro-Electronics Industrial Park, which generates an annual output value of 200 billion yuan, as an example.
This park focuses on developing the microelectronics and semiconductor industries, providing significant support for the local sector. However, many of its businesses are traditional processing enterprises. Accelerating industrial iteration is essential to building a modern manufacturing system.
The High-Tech Zone is rapidly advancing digital transformation of traditional enterprises using big data and intelligent technologies. Post-transformation, average production efficiency has increased by 41%, and per capita annual output value has risen by 52.7%.
Nie Hongyan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Chongqing High-Tech Zone in the Western (Chongqing) Science City, also highlighted the focus on digital and intelligent transformation.
The zone is accelerating the update and technological transformation of equipment in traditional manufacturing industries such as intelligent terminals and automotive and motorcycle manufacturing. Post-transformation, average production efficiency has increased by 41%, Nie added.
Leading enterprises like Quanta and Inventec have built smart factories that operate continuously, producing nearly a hundred units every minute, with one in every four laptops worldwide being manufactured in the Western (Chongqing) Science City.

In the first quarter of this year, the output value of intelligent connected NEVs and core components increased by 47.9%, while software and information revenue grew by 24.7%.
Nie continued that accelerating efforts to attract new and high-end talent and fostering industrial clusters is a key focus.
For example, leveraging resources such as the Chip Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation Limited and the National Manufacturing Innovation Center for Integrated Circuits, the area has attracted over 40 key enterprises in the industry chain.
This has resulted in the formation of a complete industrial chain for integrated circuits, encompassing chip design, wafer manufacturing, and packaging and testing. The goal is to create the nation's largest research and manufacturing base for power semiconductors and specialty processes.
