Chongqing - On July 11, a special session of the series of press conferences on how various districts and counties in Chongqing are enhancing high-quality urban development focused on Dadukou District. During the conference, Dadukou District officials discussed the initiatives, preparations, and achievements under the theme, "Embarking on the Third Wave of Entrepreneurial Development: Advancing High-Quality Growth through Strategic Expansion and Openness."
Dadukou, located southwest of Chongqing's central urban area, is a pivotal region in the construction of the modern new Chongqing. Throughout its development, Dadukou District has embarked on two significant entrepreneurial journeys. The first major opportunity was the establishment of Chongqing Iron and Steel Company, which earned the district the prestigious title of the "City of Steel."
The second entrepreneurial phase involved the relocation and transformation of Chongqing Iron and Steel Company. In 2011, the company completed its environmental relocation, presenting both challenges and new development opportunities for Dadukou District. Through the ambitious project of building a "city of parks," Dadukou now boasts 77 parks and 48 kilometers of greenways, achieving the highest per capita park green space area in Chongqing. This transformation has turned the former steel town into a vibrant, green city.
Dadukou District is embracing its third phase of entrepreneurial development with the establishment of the Chongqing Campus of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music, embarking on a path of international development. The campus is strategically located on the Diaoyuzui Peninsula, the first peninsula where the Yangtze River enters the central urban area and the last undeveloped land in this region, offering late-development advantages and significant potential. Dadukou District is leveraging the presence of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music to spearhead the development of the Diaoyuzui Peninsula, further promoting high-quality growth along the river and throughout the entire region, thereby creating a model and demonstration area for Chongqing's modern international metropolis.
In its quest for international openness and cooperation, Dadukou District has achieved notable results. The district adheres to a development strategy that deeply integrates industry, city, people, culture, commerce, and tourism. This strategy includes the high-quality construction of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music and the creation of an international exchange town. Serving as an international exchange window for Chongqing's foreign cultural exchanges and trade cooperation and as a comprehensive hub for inland opening, Dadukou District actively expands its external openness. The district builds high-quality and efficient channels, logistics, and industrial development mechanisms, stimulating new international economic and trade cooperation momentum. Additionally, Dadukou deepens multicultural exchanges by focusing on innovative scene modes that integrate music and tourism, introducing premium resources in music and art, and organizing international festivals and industry events to strengthen cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
Dadukou District has also made significant strides in establishing a modern industrial system. The district strongly emphasizes technological innovation, leveraging 110 national and municipal innovation platforms to promote the integration of innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains. By 2027, the proportion of strategic emerging industries in the total industrial output value is expected to rise to 70%.
The district has also seen substantial progress in enhancing urban quality and improving the well-being of its residents. Efforts include promoting the construction of a modern park city and connecting various parks with green corridors to create an integrated urban-rural park city layout. This aims for a park green space service radius coverage rate exceeding 90%. Dadukou is dedicated to improving people's livelihoods by continuously increasing investments in renovating old communities, healthcare, and education.
Through a series of innovative measures, Dadukou District has undergone a remarkable transformation from a traditional steel industrial area to a modern international metropolis, highlighting its vigorous progress and outstanding achievements in the new era. With the aid of international cooperation, Dadukou District is moving towards a more open, inclusive, and prosperous future.
