Chongqing - Guoyuan Port in Liangjiang New Area is the only port-based national logistics hub in western China, integrating rail, road, water, and air transportation for efficient global trade, said Xu Hongqiu, deputy secretary of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, at the press conference on July 26.
The Lianglu Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Guoyuan Port are closely linked. The bonded zone, the only inland zone in China with both water and airport functions, has a trillion yuan industrial system. Its annual foreign trade volume is nearly 200 billion yuan, and half of Chongqing's cross-border e-commerce packages are dispatched from this zone.
From or through Guoyuan Port, Chongqing's NEVs, laptops, and auto parts are shipped globally; European wine and milk powder arrive via China-Europe freight trains for nationwide distribution; Southeast Asian rice and fruit are delivered through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), said Qin Shubin, member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee.
Xu emphasized that Chongqing-manufactured vehicles now reach Southeast Asian markets in just one week via Guoyuan Port, down from the previous month-long transit time.
Liangjiang New Area also hosts over 20 comprehensive logistics platforms, including the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Multimodal Transport Demonstration Base and logistics giants like Vipshop and Cainiao.
Qin highlighted that Chongqing residents can now easily buy global goods like Australian beef, Thai durians, and Chilean cherries. In the first half of this year, over 3,300 tons of frozen beef and other products were imported from Australia, New Zealand, and South America.
Qin highlighted that Liangjiang New Area, a key national hub for the automotive industry, has attracted intelligent connected new energy vehicle brands like Seres, Avatr, and Changan Deepal. At the Seres Super Factory, one NEV is produced every 30 seconds.
In the first half of this year, the area's automotive and parts companies' import and export value rose to 18 billion yuan, a 40% year-on-year increase. "Liangjiang-made" vehicle production reached 574,000 units, surpassing 100 billion yuan in value for the first time in six months.
The district has boosted its logistics network and customs efficiency, allowing new energy vehicles to reach over 120 countries and regions.
This year, the International New Energy Vehicle Brand Center was established in Liangjiang New Area to develop an NEV testing, certification, and import-export trade base.
Liangjiang New Area, a state-level economic zone in Chongqing, China, was established in 2010. Known for its advanced infrastructure and strategic location, it serves as a major hub for innovation and manufacturing. With modern ports and extensive transport networks, Liangjiang offers attractive investment opportunities and is a key player in China's economic growth.
