Chongqing – The Chongqing-Yibin section of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway officially opened on September 29, providing travelers with more travel options for the National Day holiday.
This inaugurated section spans 192 kilometers and introduces seven stations, including the new Jiangjin North and Yongchuan South stations.
Trains on this line can reach up to 350 km/h. With the new route, travel time between Chongqing and Yibin is now just 48 minutes, reducing the journey by 2 hours and 35 minutes.
Xie Kai, the general designer of the Chongqing-Kunming high-speed railway at China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd, explained the route's design philosophy. The project was developed carefully considering geological, environmental, and economic factors, addressing challenges such as coal seams, landslides, and rockfall hazards to reduce environmental impact. Upon completion, the railway will significantly enhance the region's transportation network.
Huang Xiaoyu, representative of Chongqing station, noted that to ensure a smooth launch, they have coordinated all aspects of passenger services by verifying train operations, optimizing deployment, and providing precise services. Initial ticket sales reflect strong passenger interest, offering more convenient travel options.
