Chongqing - Daiki Yamagami from Osaka, Japan, has partnered with his Chinese associates to open a Japanese restaurant called "Waku Waku" in Chongqing. This unique and inviting eatery offers an affordable take on Omakase.
Yamagamie aims to provide diners with a deeper experience of Japanese culture through food, promoting cultural exchange between China and Japan. As a YouTuber, Yamagami also hopes to share his videos to help overseas audiences gain an objective understanding of China and experience the unique charm of Chongqing.
"I made a lot of Chinese friends who were all very kind, and we had great relationships," said Yamagami. "I thought to myself, since I'm interested in China, I should come."
Yamagami noted that his impressions of people from Chongqing and Osaka are somewhat similar. While it may not be the most refined description, he observed that both groups tend to be lively and passionate, enjoying drinking and laughter.
"I started YouTube with the idea of maintaining a neutral stance and sharing both the good and the bad, hoping to spark more interest in China," said Yamagami.
He has noticed that Japanese news often depicts a struggling Chinese economy. However, his videos showcase the vibrancy of busy tourist spots in China, contradicting reports of emptiness. His content has received positive feedback, with viewers grateful for insights into China, motivating him to keep sharing his experiences.
