Chongqing - Wanzhou District's Yuwai Zero-Tariff Beauty Retail Store, Chongqing's first "Bonded Display + Cross-Border E-commerce" venture outside the main urban area, has topped 10 million yuan in sales since opening and averages 1.5 million yuan monthly. This model provides a seamless shopping experience for consumers.
The 250-square-meter zero-tariff beauty store in Wanzhou Wanda Plaza specializes in beauty products, primarily from the U.S., Europe, Japan, and South Korea, with a focus on Western brands.
In an October 30 interview with Bridging News, Tang Jing, Head of Operations for Yuwai Projects, highlighted the store’s selection of over 100 imported beauty items across 4,000 SKUs, frequently updated with new products.
Tang said the store’s model integrates customs processing, warehousing, and sales, enabling consumers to easily buy authentic international products through a streamlined online order, cross-border payment, and in-store customs clearance process.
Combining quality assurance, enhanced user experience, and instant access, this retail approach sets itself apart from traditional e-commerce and offline retail models, significantly elevating the consumer experience.
To meet evolving consumer demands, the project plans to expand product offerings and add more in-store online categories, aligning with premium and personalized consumption trends.
Tang said the comprehensive bonded zone is China's highest-level special open area, offering the most favorable policies, complete functions, and simplified procedures.
The Wanzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone enjoys numerous preferential measures at the policy level. For example, companies within the zone benefit from import duties and value-added tax exemptions, significantly reducing operational costs.
The comprehensive bonded zone also implements more flexible foreign exchange management and customs procedures, simplifying import and export processes and enhancing cargo clearance efficiency. This provides strong support for cross-border e-commerce enterprises.
Tang noted that the comprehensive bonded zone has upgraded logistics and warehousing, adding a new public warehouse in Wanzhou with automated sorting and intelligent management. These improvements speed up product processing and delivery, greatly enhancing the shopping experience.
The comprehensive bonded zone also plans to explore “cross-border e-commerce + livestreaming” as a new retail model, partnering with popular e-commerce platforms and influencers to boost interactivity and product visibility.
Wanzhou District's geographical location is also exceptionally advantageous. Situated in northeastern Chongqing, at the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, Wanzhou enjoys dual logistical benefits along the Yangtze River Golden Waterway and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
As the only district in Chongqing with both air and waterway ports, it collaborates with nearby Dazhou and Kaizhou to establish a national transportation hub and is also uniquely positioned to bolster cross-border logistics and trade development.
