Lima, Peru—"It's great to meet you. I plan to bring ten companies to Chongqing this year," an international cooperation consultant for the Asia-Pacific Cooperation Institute said. He expressed his eagerness to connect with the event organizers during the "China: An Opportunity, Chongqing Brands" global promotion held in Lima on November 5.
The event, hosted by the Western China International Communication Organization (WCICO), drew an enthusiastic response. Over 200 guests from local governments, institutions, chambers of commerce, businesses, and the media attended.
The initiative aims to enhance Chongqing's city brand in the Latin American market, facilitating connections and seeking broader economic, trade, and investment opportunities for industries, enterprises, and brands from China, specifically Chongqing.
Zhang Guai, executive vice president of the Sichuan-Chongqing Chamber of Commerce in Peru, highlighted Peru's significant economic potential and the achievements of Sichuan and Chongqing businesses, particularly in agriculture, mining, and retail.
She cited the success story of Xiong Kangshu, a Chongqing native who founded Yadea Peru in July 2023, which has opened six stores across Peru in just over a year, promoting and selling Yadea electric vehicles.
Following her presentation, Zhang engaged with several new business contacts. A Peruvian company showed keen interest in Chongqing's electric motorcycles, indicating a desire to make a substantial purchase. Additionally, a local journalist inquired about the future collaboration plans between Sichuan and Chongqing enterprises and Peruvian companies.
After the event, Guan Hong, Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, met with officials from the Sichuan-Chongqing Chamber of Commerce in Peru.
He praised the entrepreneurial spirit and achievements of the business leaders from Sichuan and Chongqing. He encouraged WCICO and other entities to actively engage and utilize local resources to support enterprise development in Peru, further strengthening the ties between China, Latin America, and the global community.
