Chongqing - On April 21, the Chongqing Economic and Trade Promotion Event of the Stories of CPC: Achievements of Chongqing in Practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was held in Chongqing.
The event attracted over 200 Party leaders, scholars, and business representatives from more than 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, including Cambodia, Singapore, Italy, Spain, and Brazil.
Zhang Yongwu, Director General of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, presented the city's vision through the acronym "STAND," which represents specialness, trade, advanced industries, nature, dreams, and digital.
For example, he highlighted Chongqing’s progress in accelerating the construction of Digital Chongqing, using digital technology to drive high-quality growth and boost economic momentum. Additionally, the city is developing a national-leading integrated intelligent public data platform, exploring new governance models for megacities.
Warren Wee, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, emphasized that Chongqing, as the core area of western China, has become a major destination for Singaporean businesses. He noted that bilateral cooperation has deepened, with many Singaporean firms achieving remarkable success in Chongqing.
Chris Torrens, Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in China's Government Affairs, remarked on the city’s significant development through strategic planning and persistent efforts. He highlighted the opportunities in Chongqing’s advanced manufacturing and biopharmaceutical sectors, areas that have attracted a growing number of British companies.
The event also featured over 150 guests from 14 countries and regions, engaging in discussions and project negotiations to explore new opportunities for international collaboration. Sellina Kainja, an online editor for Malawi’s Nation Publications Limited, expressed her interest in the technological and science sectors, particularly data centers, AI, and robotics. She emphasized the potential for stronger cooperation with China to enhance her work in the media.
The Stories of the CPC series, launched by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), aims to promote China’s modernization and the CPC’s governance practices. It has previously been held in Hebei, Jiangsu, Jilin, and Yunnan.
This event in Chongqing marks a new chapter for the city, offering a platform to foster industrial cooperation, expand capital collaboration, and enhance cultural exchanges with the world.
