As a major manufacturing and logistics center in western China, Chongqing has long been a key destination for investment from China's Taiwan. The city hosts major Taiwan electronics manufacturers like Foxconn, Quanta, and Inventec, forming a robust supply chain for global tech brands. In 2024, Chongqing recorded 54.6 billion yuan (USD7.53 billion) in cross-strait trade, representing a 14.5% year-over-year increase, with 95 new Taiwan-funded enterprises established in the city.

Su Bo, the Mainland Chair of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit Special Task Force on Integrated Development of the New Energy Vehicle Industry, said, "The Chinese mainland is Taiwan's largest trading partner and has always been the best hinterland for Taiwan's growth. It has also provided new opportunities for Taiwan youths to exchange, study, and pursue entrepreneurial development."
The event focuses on intelligent connected vehicles, a sector where Chongqing leads nationally. The city produced 953,200 NEVs in 2024, a 90.5% increase, driven by local giants Chang'an and Seres. Participants will tour these firms' factories and discuss partnerships in research and development, as well as components.
As the economic ties between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland deepens, the tour aims to foster further collaboration in emerging tech fields while strengthening Chongqing's position as a gateway for Taiwan businesses in western China.
