Chongqing - The 7th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) kicked off at Chongqing International Expo Center on May 22, with Bishan District emerging as a focal point through its dynamic exhibition zones.
Bishan District highlighted three flagship development areas—Bishan National High-Tech Zone, China-Singapore Life Science and Technology City, and the Airport Economic Zone—alongside an agricultural sector display, underscoring its industrial innovation and growth momentum.
Under the theme "New West, New Manufacturing, New Services," this year’s WCIFIT featured nine exhibition halls across three thematic zones: comprehensive development, international/regional cooperation, and modern industries. Bishan District’s pavilion spotlighted its strategic advantages in location, industrial clusters, and business environment, with a focus on core sectors such as smart connected new energy vehicles, next-generation electronics, intelligent equipment, and advanced materials at the Bishan National High-Tech Zone. The China-Singapore Life Science and Technology City zone emphasized its "4+1" industrial framework—pharmaceuticals, medical devices, health tourism, elderly care, and a comprehensive service platform.
During the event, Bishan District secured agreements for 13 projects with a combined investment of 10.5 billion yuan ($1.45 billion). Among these, eight projects worth 5.8 billion yuan were signed for the China-Singapore Life Science and Technology City, covering initiatives such as a biomanufacturing pilot platform, Fosun Sports Group’s regional headquarters and esports operations, and the Chongqing Digital Health Pet Industrial Park.
Leveraging the fair’s momentum, Bishan District outlined plans to accelerate its modern industrial ecosystem. Key priorities include advancing preparatory work for the Bishan Airport and drafting spatial and industrial plans for the Airport Economic Zone. The district aims to operationalize the China-Singapore Life Science and Technology City this year, positioning it as a milestone achievement for the 10th anniversary of the China-Singapore Connectivity Project.
Additionally, Bishan District will enhance innovation-driven sectors like smart vehicles and electronics while expanding global trade ties through the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. Initiatives such as "Chongqing-Made Vehicles Go Global" and boosting exports of high-tech "New Trio" products (electric vehicles, lithium batteries, solar panels) are set to stabilize and upgrade foreign trade.
