Bridging News
Chongqing - On January 27, the 2026 Chongqing Two Sessions opened, with members of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) highlighting priorities including artificial intelligence, manufacturing upgrades, and emerging industries.
"Last year, I submitted three proposals, and I'm glad to say that the one about future factories and industrial brains was actually adopted," said Gong Shukai, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and CEO of Chongqing Humi Network Technology.
In 2025, the city launched an initiative encouraging enterprises to lead specialized industrial brain projects. As part of this effort, a collaborative engine manufacturing factory built by Humi for Zonsen Power was selected as a pilot factory.

Gong said his proposals aim to accelerate the digital transformation of Chongqing's manufacturing sector, a pillar of the city's economy in western China. "This year, my focus is on AI plus manufacturing by combining AI with those future factories and industrial brains."
Another member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Deng Yawen from the Hong Kong and Macau sector, highlighted Chongqing's advantages in the film and television industry. She noted that the city's complex urban landscape and rapidly expanding tourism infrastructure have made it a popular filming destination.
"Micro-short films are currently a hot trend, and I've been getting a lot of inquiries about using AI-generated video services here," Deng said. She added that AI-assisted production is lowering costs and increasing efficiency, potentially creating a new growth industry for Chongqing.
Deng also said businesses from Hong Kong and Macau remain optimistic about the city's business environment, citing efficiency and government services.
This year, Deng said she is also focusing on environmental protection, particularly the "zero-waste city" initiative. She hopes improved policies can support the recycling of construction waste and help form a closed-loop system for reused building materials.
Wan Hongxia, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, is spotlighting Tongnan’s cultural tourism this year through her new proposal. As China’s premier lemon-producing region, Tongnan exports to over 30 countries and stands as a flagship for Chongqing’s international agricultural trade. "Most of the lemon products enjoyed by tourists globally—such as the lemonade and ice cream from Mixue Bingcheng in Southeast Asia—actually originate from Tongnan," Wan noted. She warmly invites travelers from home and abroad to visit Tongnan to pick fresh lemons and experience the local flavors firsthand.
