Chongqing – On December 16, the final container was loaded onto the vessel carrying premium express cargo from Chongqing to Jakarta, Indonesia, via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC). The vessel left Qinzhou Port and is expected to arrive in Jakarta in 10 days.
The cargo was dispatched from Tuanjiecun Station in Chongqing on December 13 and seamlessly transferred to a direct sea vessel.
Compared to regular rail-sea combined transport services, the express route showcases exceptional flexibility in dispatch and robust operational support. The service has reduced land transport time by over three days by optimizing key processes such as the return of heavy containers, rail shipment, and rail-sea connections. Rail transit time is now under 32 hours.
Additionally, upon arrival at the port, priority is given to positioning and transfer, allowing for a seamless connection to sea vessels heading directly to Southeast Asia. This significantly enhances transportation efficiency and cuts logistics costs. Overall, the express service has improved timeliness by more than 30% compared to conventional trains.
Chongqing, a major inland hub in western China, has long sought to increase its connectivity with Southeast Asia. Indonesia, one of the region’s largest and most dynamic economies, has become a critical partner in this effort. The ILSTC, which connects Chongqing with Southeast Asia, is a cornerstone of this growing relationship.
The ILSTC has opened multiple cooperation channels between China and Indonesia, with rail and sea-based logistics becoming vital tools in facilitating trade. The new premium express service launched by ILSTC between Chongqing and Indonesia is just the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at improving trade flow. This route is particularly valuable for industries requiring quick delivery of goods, such as electronics, automotive parts, and consumer goods.
In the future, the ILSTC's premium rail-sea combined transport express line will operate weekly and focus on developing more high-quality express services. These efforts aim to provide more stable and efficient logistics solutions for both domestic and international businesses, further positioning the corridor as the new business card for inland China's opening to the world.
