Chongqing - Huawei, a major Chinese tech company, and Avatr Technology, a top player in Chongqing's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen. The deal aims to deepen their partnership in the high-end smart automotive sector and take their collaboration to the next level with a new approach.
Under the agreement, Huawei and Avatr will collaborate more closely in product development, marketing, and ecosystem services, focusing on supporting Avatr in developing its next-generation vehicle models.
The partnership between Huawei and Avatr is based on Huawei's Inside (HI) Mode, a complete, all-in-one intelligent solution developed by Huawei. This mode combines the company’s strengths in cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence to provide smart technology services to automakers.
Huawei is said to offer automakers three collaboration models: the Tier 1 Mode, HI Mode, and the Intelligent Car Selection Mode. Unlike the HI Mode, which incorporates Huawei’s complete range of intelligent solutions, the Tier 1 Mode positions Huawei as a supplier, providing standardized components to automakers like BYD.
The Intelligent Car Selection Mode takes things further by offering advanced smart technology along with support in product design, interior and exterior styling, and brand marketing, working with partners like Seres.
Under the new agreement, Huawei and Avatr will expand their partnership to include product development, marketing, and ecosystem services.
Both Huawei and Avatr are highly optimistic about their collaboration. Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile and Avatr, highlighted that signing this agreement is a significant milestone in strengthening their partnership. It builds on Avatr’s previous investment in Yinwang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Huawei’s Car BU.
Zhu also highlighted that Avatr will serve as the primary platform for Changan Automobile and Huawei to implement their innovative ideas and technologies for smart electric vehicles.
Eric Xu, Huawei's Rotating Chairman, emphasized that the two companies will collaborate closely to develop a new generation of models based on cutting-edge frameworks and technology.
Since their strategic partnership began in 2019, Huawei and Avatr have combined their strengths to support the development of key models, including the Avatr 11, Avatr 12, Avatr 07,and Avatr 06, a sedan slated for launch in Q2 2025.
This collaboration has helped Avatr meet its ambitious goal of launching four models in four years. in November, Avatr's sales reached 11,579 units, marking an impressive year-on-year growth of over 180%.
As a leading NEV enterprise in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, Avatr's continued success mirrors the strong growth of the city's entire NEV industry. According to statistics, Chongqing produced 691,000 NEVs from January to October, a 108.9% increase compared to the same period last year—nearly 80 percentage points higher than the Chinese average growth rate.
